The Olfactometer in detail After separation on the analytical column the effluent is split and simultaniously guided to a detector (FID, TCD or MSD) and the nose piece of the JAS Olfactometer. The operator uses a unique pusher/slider combination to mark peaks by their appearance, intensity and duration in the Agilent OpenLAB CDS ChemStation, MSD ChemStation or OpenLAB CDS EZChrom Software. By combining the human nose and e.g. a FID, the user receives information about the aroma quality of the eluting compounds and the composition of the sample simultaneously.
